Luz S. Vicario
National Center for urban school transformation
Executive COACH

As an equity-driven leader, Luz S. Vicario brings with her 38 years of educational background and field experience. She served as a bilingual GATE teacher, a language arts specialist, an assistant principal, and a principal in the National School District. This school district serves a community with large numbers of English language learners and is located in the South Bay region of the San Diego metropolitan area, in southwestern San Diego County, California. As an administrator in most of the schools in the district, she put systems into place that ensured all students received the quality education they deserved so they may compete at high levels and therefore be able to compete in the future. Initiatives she led in some of these schools were dual immersion programs, community-based gardening partnerships and a STEAM school initiative which resulted in a Notre Dame Fellowship Partnership. Additionally, through institutions of higher learning, Ms. Vicario has also worked closely with many candidates as they work towards submission of their California Administrator Performance Assessment Cycles.
