Congratulations to Karly Pecorella, the new principal of Ashley Falls School in the Del Mar Union School District. Last year, she was the assistant principal at Del Mar Heights School and a participant in the SDSU/NCUST California Clear Administrative Credential Induction Program. Her Executive Coach, Dr. Ysidro (Sid) Salazar explained that Ms. Pecorella’s promotion to principal only made sense because, “Karly has demonstrated her ability to be a transformational leader who engages in self-reflection and is passionate about making a difference for ALL students.”
Before joining the Del Mar Union School District, Karly was an educator for 19 years in the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District where she taught several grade levels in five different elementary schools, receiving Teacher of the Year in 2012 and 2013. In 2018, Karly served as the Equity Leadership Team Lead as part of the California Equity Performance and Improvement Plan (CEPIP) for a school in the LMSV School District. Over two years, the team worked with staff to promote equity in the school and targeted reading growth within the English Language Learner population. Utilizing the equity-driven leadership skills she has honed through the SDSU/NCUST Clear Administrative Services Credential Program, Karly serves as a member of the Del Mar Union School District’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion leadership team. NCUST is proud to see that her skills and commitment are being acknowledged through this important promotion!
established in 2005, NCUST strives to help urban school districts and their partners transform urban schools into places where all students achieve academic proficiency, evidence a love of learning, and graduate well prepared to succeed in post-secondary education, the workplace, and their communities.
